With Outland Empire, opening May 1st at LMNL Gallery, photographer Tod Seelie explores the eccentricities and underground of Southern California. Seelie’s photographs oscillate from depicting the forgotten vestiges of humanity to wild moments full of energy, always with his unique eye and penchant for exploration. Outland Empire is a reminder that the world is more than just carefully manicured people and places. There’s still a bit of dirt and magic out there, for now.
Originally shot earlier this year as part of a residency with Superchief Gallery in Los Angeles, Seelie’s Outland Empire series is now making its way to the East Coast, along with a number of photos in the series that were not included in the original exhibition.
Outland Empire opens at LMNL Gallery on May 1st, First Friday, from 6-9pm. The exhibition will remain on view through May 29th by appointment.
LMNL Gallery is located at 1526 Frankford Ave in Philadelphia, PA.
